The History of Maison Zyba

Maison Zyba carries within it an intimate and deeply symbolic history. Its name is that of the designer's maternal family, a tribute to her Japanese grandmother, whose destiny marked several generations.

During World War II, her Japanese grandmother fell in love with a Korean man. An unlikely union during this troubled time, marked by conflict and tension between the two countries. For love, she left Japan to start a new life in Korea, defying tradition and the rejection of her own family.

But the story doesn't end there. After the war, in a Korea seeking independence, anti-Japanese sentiments ran high. Isolated and discriminated against, the grandmother struggled to fit in. She died young, leaving behind a family marked by absence and separation. Her children would later try to rediscover their Japanese roots, but never succeeded.

It is with this memory as a legacy that the designer founded Maison Zyba . A name like a bridge stretched between cultures, a tribute to courage, love and the hope of reconciliation. A brand born from intimacy, driven by the desire to transform a family wound into a creative force.

The creator

Of Korean descent, the founder of Maison Zyba grew up between several cultures. At a young age, she left Korea to study in Canada, then in France. She trained in Haute Couture at the ECSCP and developed a passion for the art of clothing, from cutting to creation.

Her career path has taken her to work in Paris, New York, Seoul, and Shanghai, as a buyer and consultant for major international brands. But it's in personal creation that she finds her true calling. She also studied fashion and millinery in France, developing a style imbued with refinement, meaning, and cultural diversity.

Maison Zyba is the culmination of this journey: a creative house that blends heritage, expertise and contemporary poetry.
